58 teams from Estonia and Latvia will Cntinue in The Spring Round

Prototron time
Prototron gathered 290 smart ideas in spring round, many of which were aimed at mitigating the effects of the economic crisis caused by the global situation due the virus and facilitating people’s social lives. For the first time, Prototron had a call for proposals in Latvia, where more than 30 ideas were collected.

“On the one hand, very simple ideas were presented, which will only work in a crisis situation, on the other hand, there were several very technologically complex solutions. Undoubtedly, the keywords in this round are contactless solutions and robotics – ideas from distance learning to contactless water tests and even weddings, “said Jana Budkovskaja, CEO of Prototron.

By now the 290 ideas submitted in the spring round have been pre-evaluated and 58 teams remained on the screen.

Prototron is a facility of Swedbank, TalTech, Tallinn Science Park Tehnopol and the University of Tartu, which helps to create initial prototypes so that world-changing ideas and products reach the market faster. In 2020, Prototron expanded to Latvia.

Prototron has funded 72 smart ideas with a total of almost 893,000 euros, and the teams have raised more than 22 million euros as follow-on investments.

The winners of the Prototron Spring 2020 round will be announced on May 28.
